The aluminum frame of premium 20.5″ hexagon is made with side walls of 1/8″ thick aluminum 1- high. Two layers of tiles made from pressed basalt fibers insulate and dissipate the heat. Basalt is a fire-proof volcanic rock. The basalt tiles rise to the height of the 1″ frame wall. Hard rubber feet raise the frame 3/4″ above the deck for air flow and to ensure that your deck will not become stained from trapped moisture.
It is best to place the feet of your fire pit within the side walls sitting on the basalt tiles. The inside dimension of the 20.5″ hexagon is 20″ flat side to opposite flat side. The feet can be about 19.5″ apart outside of one foot to outside of the next foot. However, for best protection, the diameter of your fire pit should not be much larger than the DeckProtect, which most likely means the fire pit feet will be not so close to the corners.
